I just came from watching the movie, “Buck”. I had no idea that it was this kind of film. I am in Prescott Valley, AZ on my way to MN to school. I am a 51 year old woman. I have a had a few tough blows over the last few years, lost my sister, then my job, then my stuff, then my house and then my self. People treat me like I had done something wrong. I had no support. I am a recovered alcoholic and drug addict, clean & sober 26 years, I didn’t drink over it… however, Buck, I have not handled my emotions well. I was raised on a small horse ranch with an abusive drunkin step father who beat our horses and abused me… I have done a lot of work but feel that there must be something I am missing because I am still emotionally messed up a bit. I am going to MN to get my masters degree in addictions counseling so that I can help others and myself. 2 questions: In the film you said that you had to learn to control your emotions, HOW? and 2) where do you get the strength to be loving when you hurt? Thank you so very much.

HI. WELL I LEARNED IN GRATITUDE MEETING AND JOURNAL I PICKED UP WITH A STORY ABOUT GRATITUDE. WE LEARN FROM EXPERIENCES TO BE KIND LIKE BUCK LEARNED. ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL IF YOU GREW UP AROUND HORSES. I STARTED LATE IN LIFE. MY GRANDFATHER WAS OLD AND HAD 2 MULES THAT I NEVER COULD CATCH WHEN WE VISIED. WANTED TO RIDE SINCE I CAN REMEMBER AND ONLY ABLE TOSTART AFTER MY KIDS WERE GROWN. AT LEAST NOW I HAVE MY 2 HORSES AND A PLACE TO RIDE.
